MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE TAPESTRIES Some tend to define Medieval times synonymously with the Middle Ages which includes the fall of the Roman Empire through the 14th century. The Renaissance spans the 14th through 16th centuries. Many tapestries from the 15th and 16th century would be considered medieval, though technically woven during the Renaissance. Some designs shown here are actually much later in origin but have the flavor of these periods.
