The original tapestry, known as "La Noble Amazone," was woven by the Ateliers des Bords de Loire in the 16th century. A noble woman rides sidesaddle, ascorted by a young lord. At the top right corner is a woodcutter and at the left is a monkey dressed as a peasant. The mille fleurs background is typical of the time and adds to the rustic character of the piece. Woven in France of 70% wool.
